NOTES
You know the deal: familiarize yourself with the journal, be awesome, etc.
Please do not submit a second story until you have received a response on the first.
If you have any questions, feel free to email us at aaron@hobartpulp.
Please note, however, that most correspondence regarding submissions (withdrawals, etc) should be done here, via our online submission manager.
PRINT
We are currently only reading novellas, nonfiction, and (series of) short-shorts for our next open/non-themed print issue (#14). Please see below for more info regarding each of those genre. We are hoping to reopen to all fiction (probably in the form of a contest, just to give a heads up) in February.
PAYMENT
For Print: Between $50 and $150, depending on the total number of printed stories, available funds, etc.
For Web:
Mostly gratitude and thanks. And 2 issues of the print journal.

PRINT (#14) -- nonfiction
(pdf, doc, docx, rtf)
Size limit: 8,000
We've been publishing essays since our fifth issue but have seldom promoted the fact. With Hobart #14 we are not only promoting and highlighting but encouraging: We want more nonfiction! We're looking for essays, creative profile pieces, interesting interviews, pieces that blur the lines between review and personal essay, etc.It always helps to read the journal, online and in print, to get an idea of our general tone, but keep an eye on our Tumblr as well, which we like to updates with specific "wishlist" ideas for pieces that we'd especially love to read!

PRINT (#14) -- short-shorts
(pdf, doc, docx, rtf)
Size limit: 3-7 pieces, <600 words each
We're also looking for short-shorts, prose poems, flash fictions, vignettes, whatever you want to call thems! Specifically, we especially like publishing "portfolios" of shorter pieces: 3-7 that in some way feel like they work together, as a series, or similar in tone, or in some way feel cohesive. For single shorter pieces, we advise you to please submit to the website.

PRINT (#14) -- novellas
(pdf, doc, docx, rtf)
Size limit: 7,000 - 20,000(?)
For the first time, we're opening submissions for the possibility of including a longer piece. We're not sure how this is gonna go, but are excited about the prospect. Send us something awesome!SUBMIT
WEB FICTION
(pdf, doc, docx, txt, rtf, jpg, gif)
Size limit: 2,000
The nitty gritty:We, of course, recommend you be at least vaguely familiar with what we have published in the past. Once that is out of the way, there really isn't much more we can tell you. More instructions would really only clutter this page, wouldn't it? We want stories that are what we like to call "web-friendly" meaning, shorter than about 2,000 words or so though 1,000 or less is even better.
Submit only one story at time, not more than 2,000 words (but shorter than this has a better chance, to be honest). If you're submitting short shorts (around 500 words or less), you can submit up to three stories in a single file. Multiple submissions will be deleted unread.
